1. The Queen and I
The topic of conversation at the lunch table all week has been about Edward Masen. I saw this coming and it's slightly better than discussing makeup and hair or whatever it is we girls are stereotypically rumored to discuss, but still. I want to discuss makeup and hair. I don't care whether Edward looks more like a boxers boy or if he's rocking briefs under his jeans. That's Edward's business.
Mom says the Masens are a very nice family and that they politely accepted her pie. I hope they didn't eat it. I'm sure Edward didn't, considering he hasn't been absent from school due to food poisoning yet, but what about his Mom and Dad?
I tried to teach Penny how to play Heart and Soul on the piano today, but she has the attention span of a baby gnat and just smashed the keys repeatedly and left to watch Spongebob. Mom and Dad have her taking flute lessons and she's not much interested in learning anything else. Nine-year-olds can be surprisingly single-minded when it comes to anything that even remotely resembles work. One instrument is more than enough for her.
Meanwhile, I'm still messing up The Flight of the Bumblebee, but I have successfully made a rap remix of Hey Jude by the Beatles. No, I'm not kidding and yes, it is possible. And it sounds pretty damn good, if I do say so myself.
